ECU is a large complex university and we want you to have a rewarding experience. ECU’s motto is “servire” meaning “to serve.” It’s a mission we take seriously. We know that although our staff is second to none in helping students, sometimes things happen. We are sorry when they do and want to try to help. The resources below are listed to help you find the right office, the right person that can help you. Feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if we can help solve a problem or help you find someone that can help.
In most instances a student should begin by talking with the faculty member. If this discussion proves unsatisfactory the student may wish to discuss the issue with the department chair/director. If consultation with the department chair/director does not resolve the issue the student can contact the appropriate dean of the college.
The goal the grade appeal policy is to establish a clear, fair process by which students can contest a course grade that they believe has been awarded in a manner inconsistent with university policies or that has resulted from calculation errors on the part of the instructor. Graduate Students, please see the Graduate Catalog.
The Office of the Dean of Students can provide guidance to a student who believes that there is reason to make an inquiry or complaint. The Dean of Student’s office can assist the student by helping the student determine the nature of the complaint and/or the appropriate faculty or staff member or department to discuss/receive the initial complaint. If the student wishes to appeal, the process must be initiated in writing to the Tuition Refund Appeals Committee and the written appeal can be submitted to email@example.com.
